Methodology

Total = (window count × installed unit price + window count × additional disposal + repairs + permits / other fees) × (1 + contingency %). Calculate once with each unit-price bound.

Draft engineering scope: one window type / installed-price band per run. Installed prices include window and labor; disposal is additional only. No local code, tax, energy-savings, or rebate assumption.

Enter the number of windows and a lower and upper installed price per window. Each installed unit price is treated as already including the window and installation labor. The calculator then adds any disposal charge entered per window, plus total frame or trim repairs and permits or other fees. Contingency is applied to the resulting subtotal. Do not enter disposal, repairs, or fees again if they are already included in the installed price or quote. With the default inputs, 10 windows at $500 each equal $5,000 for windows and installation; $250 of additional disposal, $500 of repairs, and $150 of fees bring the subtotal to $5,900, and a 10% contingency produces a $6,490 lower result. At $1,000 per installed window, the corresponding result is $11,990. The calculator does not determine local code requirements, taxes, rebates, or energy savings. Use an installer quote for the actual window specifications and site conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Does installed price include labor?

Yes. The installed price input is intended to include both the window and its installation labor. Do not add installation labor again in another field.

When should I enter disposal?

Enter a disposal amount only when it is an additional per-window cost not already included in the installed price or quote.

How are repairs and permits or other fees handled?

Those fields are total additional amounts for the project. Add only costs that are not already included in another input.

How does the default example reach $6,490?

Ten windows at $500 each cost $5,000. Adding $250 of disposal, $500 of repairs, and $150 of fees gives $5,900. A 10% contingency adds $590, for a total of $6,490.

When do I need an actual window quote?

Use a project-specific quote when selecting real windows because size, type, installation conditions, repairs, local requirements, and included services can change the final price.
